House Republicans Sweat Midterms As Trump Doubles Down on His Reckless War and Tanks The Economy Arrow

As Donald Trump speaks to House Republicans at their annual retreat in Florida today, Republicans in Congress are increasingly worried about their midterm chances as the American people strongly disapprove of Trump's war of choice in Iran and his chaotic policies that are driving the economy into the ground.

Trump's reckless war in Iran has already cost the lives of seven service members, and he has only doubled down, saying repeatedly, "There will likely be more. Before it ends, that's the way it is." And now, House Republicans are expressing skepticism and lamenting Trump's flip-flopping over the war's duration, as more American service members lose their lives.

Oil prices have surged to over $100 per barrel, and according to AAA, the average price for a gallon of gasoline has risen to $3.48 nationwide - a nearly 17% increase since the first strikes on Iran.

In response, DNC Rapid Response Director Kendall Witmer released the following statement:

"Between skyrocketing prices and an unpopular foreign war, House Republicans are panicking that Trump is going to tank their chances in the midterms. Americans are fed up with Trump's broken promises, and Republicans know it. While Trump and Republicans gamble with Americans' lives and livelihoods, Democrats are focused on bringing down costs and making life better for Americans."

Every major poll since the initial strikes has shown that Americans disapprove of Trump's war in Iran, and nearly 70% of Americans believe Trump is focused on the wrong priorities and has failed to pay enough attention to the country's most important problems.
