Commissioning of the Second Phase of the Metallurgical Plant of the Tajikistan-China Mining Company LLC in the City of Istiqlol

On September 21, continuing his working visit to the city of Istiqlol, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, commissioned the second phase of the metallurgical plant of the Tajikistan-China Mining Company LLC.
The second phase of the metallurgical plant in the city of Istiqlol was constructed on the instructions of the Leader of the Nation, Emomali Rahmon. The facility will employ 250 local and foreign workers and produce four types of high-value-added products using next-generation technology.

During the visit, the Leader of the Nation was informed that lead-silver concentrate, blister copper, and gold will be supplied to and processed at this newly built plant from the Zarnisor mine, which has abundant raw materials. In addition to meeting domestic market demand, the finished products will also be exported abroad.

It is worth noting that on November 16, 2017, during the inauguration of the first phase of the plant, the President of the country instructed officials of the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies and the Tajikistan-China Mining Company to take additional measures to construct a new plant and process raw materials into finished products.

In 2023, in preparation for the 35th anniversary of State Independence, construction work at the site began with the involvement of 200 local workers.

Following the commissioning of the second phase, the plant will have the capacity to produce 30,000 tons of refined lead, 1,000 tons of blister copper, 40 tons of refined silver, and 100 kilograms of refined gold annually.

During the presentation, the Head of State was informed that the metallurgical plant in the city of Istiqlol processes and produces 10 types of products, including rubber tubing, lead concentrates, zinc concentrates, copper concentrates, crude lead, blister copper, zinc oxide, refined lead, silver, and gold.

There is strong demand for these types of products on the global market.

Several new service facilities have been constructed within the metallurgical plant, including spacious workrooms, a dormitory, and a cafeteria for workers and specialists.

Over its 20 years of operations, the Tajikistan-China Mining Company has made a valuable contribution to the development of the mining industry and the provision of permanent employment for residents through the construction of large and small enterprises.

Currently, 2,200 people are employed by the company and its enterprises, of whom 95 percent are local workers.

President Emomali Rahmon instructed officials to establish a technology park adjacent to the plant, consisting of workshops for the deep processing of ores. This would increase both the volume and range of finished products and create a significant number of new jobs for the region's population.

At the conclusion of the visit, the Head of State described the construction of the major industrial plant in the city of Istiqlol as important for the development of social and economic life and highly commended the level of Tajikistan-China cooperation in the industrial sector.

In view of the growing population of the city of Istiqlol, further instructions were issued to construct new industrial enterprises and various service and social facilities.
