Geosyntec's Matthew Lee, PhD, and SiREM's Phil Dennis will cohost the webinar "Molecular Biological and Isotopic Tools for Site Remediation Assessment and Optimization in Australia" on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. AEST.
Their other cohost is Kevin Kuntze, PhD, of Isodetect. SiREM's Ximena Druar will moderate the webinar.
Matt is a Senior Professional Scientist based in Australia with more than 25 years of experience in anaerobic microbiology and environmental chemistry. He characterizes anaerobic microorganisms that transform toxic anthropogenic substances into environmentally benign end products. Matt also brings expertise in researching degraded halogenated organic pollution in anoxic groundwater and soil.
Phil is a Senior Principal Molecular Biologist and a founding member of SiREM. He is based in Guelph, Canada, and brings more than 30 years of experience in research and management of molecular biology, microbiology, and environmental remediation applications. At SiREM, he focuses on directing molecular genetic testing services and managing research and development.
The presentation will discuss the molecular biological and isotopic tools that can now be accessed through SiREM's location in Brisbane, Australia. These techniques include quantitative polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing for microbes and functional genes critical for bioremediation and compound-specific isotope analysis (CSIA) to confirm and quantify degradation processes.
