Iran FM writes to counterparts, urges end to Israeli regime's war crimes

In a letter addressed to his counterparts around the world ,Araghchi highlighted the continued aggressions and crimes of the Zionist regime against the defenseless people of Gaza and Lebanon which have led to the martyrdom injury and displacement of many innocent civilians as well as the widespread destruction of residential and public areas and the killing of international aid workers.

In a letter addressed to his counterparts around the world, Iran's Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi highlighted the continued aggressions and crimes of the Zionist regime against the defenseless people of Gaza and Lebanon, which have led to the martyrdom, injury, and displacement of many innocent civilians, as well as the widespread destruction of residential and public areas and the killing of international aid workers.
He described these criminal actions as a serious threat to regional and international peace and security and a clear example of war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide.

In his letter, Araghchi emphasized that the unlimited impunity granted to Israel has led to its expanding aggressions, particularly against Lebanon, through widespread airstrikes on residential areas using U.S.-made bunker-buster bombs. He noted that the failure of the United Nations Security Council to fulfill its duties has emboldened the war-hungry leaders of this regime to continue their crimes.

Araghchi also outlined the reasons behind the actions of Iran's Armed Forces, taken in accordance with the inherent right to self-defense under international law and the United Nations Charter, following prolonged restraint in an effort to establish a ceasefire in Gaza. He explained that Iran's military response, targeting the Zionist regime's military facilities, was a reflection of Iran's responsible approach to international peace and security. He further stressed that the Islamic Republic of Iran is fully prepared to take stronger defensive actions, if necessary, in response to any further aggression, and will not hesitate to do so.

In concluding his letter, Iran's Foreign Minister underscored the need for collective diplomatic efforts to halt the Zionist regime's aggressions and crimes. He urged the international community to take immediate and decisive action to stop the attacks, bombings, and killing of innocent people in Gaza and Lebanon, as well as to urgently address the dire humanitarian situation, achieve a ceasefire, and facilitate humanitarian aid.

Additionally, Araghchi sent separate letters to Filippo Grandi, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, and Mirjana Spoljaric Egger, President of the International Committee of the Red Cross, expressing his deep concern over the worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza and Lebanon. He emphasized that the Israeli regime's attacks have not only targeted civilians, civilian infrastructure, and public facilities but have also violated all humanitarian principles.

Araghchi urged international humanitarian organizations, including the International Committee of the Red Cross, as the custodian of international humanitarian law, and the UNHCR, as the protector of refugees, to take effective, immediate, meaningful, and proportionate actions regarding the humanitarian crisis in West Asia, mobilize international aid, and remove obstacles to its delivery to the areas affected by Israel's war-mongering.

Furthermore, in another letter addressed to Hissein Brahim Taha, Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Araghchi referenced their recent meeting in New York and the ongoing and escalating crimes of the Zionist regime, as well as the worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza and Lebanon due to extensive Israeli airstrikes on residential areas. He called for the urgent convening of an extraordinary summit of OIC leaders to address this issue and take practical measures to assist the innocent people of Gaza and Lebanon.
