DWR Launching Assistance Programs for Proposition 4 Funding

Approved by California voters in November 2024, Proposition 4 funds projects focused on safe drinking water, drought, flood, and water resilience, and DWR is launching new assistance programs that will prioritize:

  • Climate Adaptation - Investing now to help communities adapt to evolving environmental conditions and reduce vulnerabilities to future climate impacts.
  • Building Resilience - Strengthening natural and built infrastructure to better withstand climate extremes, including wildfire risks, droughts, and floods.
  • Disadvantaged & Vulnerable Communities - Ensuring equitable access to resources and funding, with a focus on vulnerable populations, including Native American Tribes and other frontline communities.

Below is a list of all upcoming public engagement opportunities over the next few months:

  • The Dam Safety and Climate Resilience program is accepting public comments on draft guidelines until 5:00 p.m. on June 11. The program also has two upcoming workshops:
  • Tuesday, June 2, 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. Disadvantaged and Vulnerable Communities Tools. Register to attend.
  • The California Irrigation Management Information System (CIMIS) is hosting two project overview workshops:
  • Friday, June 26, 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Zoom registration to be provided.
  • Monday, June 29, 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Zoom registration to be provided.
  • The public review period for the draft guidelines of the Riverine Stewardship Program has ended. Final guidelines will be released this summer.

We encourage water agencies, local governments, Tribes, and community organizations to participate and learn how their projects may qualify for funding.
