Proposed Sidewalk Policy Updates


City Council recently made a referral to update Sun Prairie's Sidewalk Policy - which provides guidelines on where sidewalks are constructed and other design and construction standards. City staff are presenting Council's proposed changes at a few upcoming committee and commission meetings, and we welcome residents to attend to share their feedback! Sun Prairie's current policy is to install sidewalks on both sides of all new and reconstructed streets (with some exceptions) to provide safe, comfortable, and accessible pedestrian infrastructure. The updated policy would keep this requirement for new roads, but only require sidewalk on one side of existing streets where they do not already exist. Additional recommended changes include adding policy flexibility to reduce impacts to existing trees. To share your feedback on these changes, join us at:
