Marietta, Ga. - U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is strengthening support for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.
Sen. Ossoff brought Republicans and Democrats together to help upgrade technology used to support domestic violence and sexual assault survivors.
With the funding, LiveSafe Resources (LSR), a Cobb County nonprofit, will upgrade their computer security and equipment to strengthen services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
Sen. Ossoff is delivering $116,000 for the project through bipartisan government funding legislation that became law on January 23.
"The State of Georgia needs more resources to help survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault," Sen. Ossoff said. "That's why I am delivering new resources to upgrade technological equipment needed to support survivors of these crimes in our state."
"These critical funds will support every program that LiveSafe Resources provides as well as the daily operations of the agency. As the state certified Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault program for our community, these services include everything from shelter and housing programs to forensic medical exams and counseling," said Lisa Mello, CEO of LiveSafe Resources. "All our programs rely on upgraded IT infrastructure to deliver the highest-level of 24/7 care that we provide to survivors and their loved ones. Without Sen. Ossoff championing this funding, these upgrades would not be possible."
