Columbia is one of 16 cities in the 2024-2026 cohort, and the first city in Missouri to participate in Love Your Block. The Love Your Block program, powered by the Bloomberg Center for Public Innovation at Johns Hopkins University, brings city leaders and residents together to build stronger neighborhoods, one block at a time.
Love Your Block grants fund resident-led neighborhood revitalization projects in communities across the United States. From transforming vacant lots into community gardens to repairing playground equipment and removing trash from a public right-of-way, Love Your Block helps improve public spaces.
In addition to mini-grants, this year the City of Columbia's Love Your Block work is supporting resident-led neighborhood litter pickups, park cleanups and composting projects. The City is seeking community members interested in leading these projects with their neighbors' support. Love Your Block will provide tools and supplies and assist with project promotion.
