Historical Marker Unveiling Ceremony to Commemorate History, Heritage of the Strawbridge Home for Boys

WHAT:

The Maryland Department of Transportation, in partnership with the Maryland Historical Trust, will hold a historical marker unveiling ceremony to recognize the legacy of the Strawbridge Home for Boys. MDOT leadership, state and local officials, and community members will commemorate the history and heritage of the Strawbridge Home and its lasting impact on generations of Marylanders. The ceremony will recognize community partners and highlight the historical significance of the home.

South side of the Sykesville Rd and Bennett Rd intersection, adjacent to the Merritt Club parking lot located at 1388 Progress Way, Eldersburg, MD 21784.

WHY:

The Strawbridge Home was dedicated to the protection, training and development of young boys in need in the Baltimore and Wilmington Conferences of the Methodist Church. The ceremony will unveil a historical marker acknowledging the legacy of the Strawbridge Home for Boys, which cared for over 300 boys.
