Tempe police arrest suspect in yesterday’s fatal road rage shootingdetail

Tempe, AZ - On July 1st, 2025, at approximately 12:15 p.m., officers from the Tempe Police Department, along with the Phoenix Fire Department, responded to a call regarding a road rage shooting in the area of Warner Rd and Priest Dr. Upon arrival, officers discovered a man who had been shot. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. He was identified as Steven Bevan, 29 years old.

The other man involved remained on scene and was ultimately arrested by police. That man was identified as Dustin Jackson, 46 years old (MCSO booking #G189769). It was also learned that there were young children in both of the involved cars. The children were all safe and not injured in the incident.

Mr. Jackson was booked into jail for First Degree Murder, a class 1 felony and Drive By Shooting, a class 2 felony.
