President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a phone call with Federal Chancellor of Germany Friedrich Merz.

The Head of State informed the Chancellor that he had approved the draft bill that guarantees the independence and effectiveness of anti-corruption institutions in Ukraine. The bill has also been supported by the anti-corruption agencies. There is a unified position: there must be no interference or influence from Russia on the functioning of Ukraine's anti-corruption infrastructure. Volodymyr Zelenskyy invited Germany to join the expert review of the bill, and Friedrich Merz expressed readiness to assist.

The conversation also touched on the implementation of agreements with the EU and the work toward opening the first negotiation cluster for Ukraine's accession to the European Union. Chancellor Merz reaffirmed Germany's full support in this matter.

The President also briefed the Chancellor on the frontline situation and stressed the need for additional funding to drone production. The leaders agreed to work together to find ways to scale up manufacturing, particularly of interceptor drones.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked Germany for its leadership in Europe in supporting Ukraine and noted that German assistance this year alone will exceed EUR 9 billion.

The leaders also discussed continued cooperation in various formats, including within the Ramstein framework, and agreed to work on preparations for the next meeting.
