NOV's TerraPULSE™ Coiled Tubing Agitator™ reached a total depth (TD) of 27,005 ft during an acid stimulation operation in Saudi Arabia, setting a national record for coiled tubing reach with an oscillatory friction-reduction tool.
The record run occurred in a complex 3D well profile featuring a 5,000-ft open-hole section and a more than 18,300-ft (3.5-mile) lateral with a 60° azimuth turn. Greater depths and longer laterals increase friction and drag, making it harder for coiled tubing to reach TD during well interventions.
NOV's 3⅛-in. TerraPULSE CT Agitator tool delivered high-frequency axial vibrations that helped the coiled tubing overcome these challenges. The result: full access to the reservoir and complete stimulation of the open-hole section, maximizing hydrocarbon recovery potential.
