This upcoming update is focused on making our website clearer, easier to navigate, and more accessible for everyone. Over time, our website has grown to include hundreds of pages, which can make it challenging to quickly find frequently used information. The new website reorganizes and refreshes content so key information can be found in three clicks or less.
The redesign also supports the City's commitment to accessibility. The new website is being built to meet updated accessibility requirements established by the U.S. Department of Justice that will apply to municipal governments serving populations over 50,000 beginning in 2026.
When the new website launches, visitors will notice a cleaner design and a more intuitive layout. Related information will be grouped into common areas, reducing the number of separate pages and making content easier to locate. For example, information about parks and trails will be available in one consolidated location rather than across numerous individual pages.
Once the new website goes live, some bookmarked pages or links within older documents may no longer function as expected. We encourage visitors to update bookmarks after the launch and appreciate your patience during this transition.
We look forward to sharing the new website with the Palm Desert community and believe it will make it easier than ever to stay informed and engaged.
