Strategic dialogue and collaboration aimed at strengthening the defense industrial base will take center stage at the annual Defense Logistics Agency Supply Chain Alliance Symposium and Exhibition, June 2-3, at the Greater Columbus Convention Center.
This year's theme, "Deliver Readiness, Build Capabilities and Enhance Logistics Deterrence," explores how relationships between DLA, industry and the joint force are key to overall military readiness and lethality.
The event will provide opportunities for collaboration between government experts and industry leaders to develop sustainment solutions to better support the warfighter.
The Honorable Michael Duffey, Under Secretary of War for Acquisition and Sustainment, will participate in a fireside chat with DLA Director Army Lt. Gen. Mark Simerly the morning of June 2.
Duffey oversees all matters related to acquisition, logistics, installation management, operational energy, nuclear deterrence and the defense industrial base for the War Department. With over two decades of senior leadership experience across the DOW, he also served as the program associate director for national security at the Office of Management and Budget where he oversaw a more than $1 trillion national security budget for the United States government.
Other speakers include: Army Lt. Gen. Gavin Lawrence, deputy director of Army Materiel Command; Stephen D. Gray, a member of the Senior Executive Service and director of the Air Force Sustainment Center's 448th Supply Chain Management Wing; Allan Day, a retired Air Force major general and vice president of logistics and sustainment for Salesforce; and Joseph Zeis, Aerospace and Defense Advisor for Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine. Welcome remarks will be delivered by DLA Weapons Support (Columbus) Commander Navy Rear Adm. Julie Treanor June 2, and DLA Weapons Support (Richmond) Commander Air Force Brig. Gen. Patrick Launey June 3, respectively.
These voices from across the DOW supply chain will provide a pulse check on logistics integration as the joint force modernizes its acquisition apparatus in a contested logistics environment.
The event promises to provide businesses, large and small, with a forum to interact directly with DLA through valuable networking opportunities such as the Knowledge Bar, immersive breakout sessions and a live contracting help desk that will provide on-site support. Attendees will also benefit from small business matchmaking and an expansive exhibit hall featuring more than 95 organizations.
