Please note that on Monday, May 19, emergency power outlets will experience a loss of power for 15-20 minutes. This shutdown will affect electrical outlets provided with emergency backup power (usually red electrical outlets). Individuals running experiments or operating equipment (e.g., freezers) should plan accordingly by either:
Additionally, on Tuesday, May 20, the entire south side of the Van Vleet building will be closed to occupants. (This will affect occupants of building rooms beginning with the letter "S", for example room S206.) Individuals should plan to work remotely or from an alternate location on campus that day. During that time a crane will be placing a new generator onto the roof of the building. The building closure is intended to ensure the safety of building occupants while this work takes place.
Over the next six weeks we anticipate additional impacts to building emergency power. We will keep you updated and provide as much advanced notice as possible. If you have additional questions about this project please contact Mr. Edwin Jeffres, Assistant Vice Chancellor for Facilities, at ejeffres@uthsc.edu.
