A Note From Doug Dayton, P.E., CEO of MEI Industrial Solutions
I'm proud to share that MEI Industrial Solutions is now ranked No. 66 on the Engineering News-Record (ENR) 2026 Top 600 Specialty Contractors list. That's up 34 spots from No. 100 last year. It's one of the biggest climbs among ENR's top 100. And it marks our fifth straight year moving up.
We're growing to meet the moment
ENR's Top 600 ranks the largest specialty contractors in the U.S. by revenue. This year's list shows just how much the AI buildout is reshaping construction. Combined revenue for Top 600 firms rose 14.7% to $275.1 billion last year, led by data center work. At the same time, nearly two-thirds of contractors told ENR they're short on skilled craftworkers.
MEI is built for this moment. Data center and manufacturing projects make up the core of our work, and we keep expanding our capabilities in both. In just a few years, we've grown to more than 2,500 employees in 30 locations nationwide. That's the scale our clients need to build what's next.
Projects are getting bigger and moving faster than ever. Clients are racing to bring AI data centers, semiconductor fabs and advanced manufacturing plants online. Others are expanding life sciences, aerospace and defense, and automotive operations. Many are managing work across multiple sites at once. We've built the national platform and specialized capabilities to support that work. But what truly sets MEI apart is our people. Our riggers, engineers, project managers and regional leaders that bring precision and safety to every job.
What it means for our clients
When you're moving or installing critical equipment, there's more at stake than the equipment itself. Production schedules depend on the work going right. So do facility readiness and the safety of everyone on site. MEI's growth means we can help you get that work done with less risk, less disruption and less to manage.
Thank you to our team, our clients and everyone else who has been part of our growth. Here's to the next climb!
