Big Five European Union member states and United Kingdom meet in Warsaw

The meeting was summoned by Minister Sikorski on the thousandth day of Russia's aggression against Ukraine. During a press conference, the ministers and other participants in the event honoured the victims of the Russian war in Ukraine with a minute of silence.

The Warsaw summit of foreign ministers is a clear sign of European solidarity with the Ukrainian people. The participants discussed prospects of increasing military, financial, and humanitarian aid for Ukraine. They declared readiness for further efforts to strengthen Europe's stability and security. Minister Sikorski extended his invitation also to Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, who was nevertheless unable to come to Warsaw on a short notice due to other urgent commitments.

The ministers underlined the importance of strong transatlantic ties. They voiced a belief that cooperation between Europe and the US is key to the transatlantic region's security and stability. It was stressed that Europe must be ready to assume more responsibility for its own security, also through a more balanced burden sharing within NATO.
