On 10 December 2025, the handover ceremony of Hunan-Bahamas Agricultural Cooperation Project was held at Gladstone Demonstration Farm in Nassau. Her Excellency Yan Jiarong, Chinese Ambassador to The Bahamas, Bahamian Minister of Agriculture and Marine Resources Jomo Campbell, representatives from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Hunan Province, and Mr.Peng Jing, Commercial Attaché of the Embassy attended the ceremony and toured the demonstration farm. Mainstream media of The Bahamas covered the event extensively.
In her remarks, Ambassador Yan emphasized that cooperation in food security represents an important step for both China and The Bahamas in implementing the Global Development Initiative. As a leading agricultural nation, China has been at the forefront of agricultural development and innovation. Hunan Province, as a pioneer in advancing bilateral ties and Subnational Cooperation between China and The Bahamas, has showcased China's advanced agricultural technologies and management expertise through the two-and-a-half-year agricultural cooperation project, thereby enriching the practical agricultural collaboration between the two countries. It is confident that China-Bahamas agricultural cooperation will unlock even greater potential in the years ahead.
Minister Campbell expressed sincere gratitude to China, stating that The Bahamas places great importance on agricultural development and food security. He expressed hope for further deepening practical agricultural cooperation between the two countries and promoting all-round development of bilateral relations.
