SE 7th Street Bridge Replacement Project in Rio Vista
FDOT Financial Project ID: 450870-1-52-01 | City Project Number: P12859
The City of Fort Lauderdale is working with Roadway Design Solutions to prepare designs for the replacement of the SE 7th Street Bridge over Rio Cordova, located east of Cordova Road, in Rio Vista (Bridge No. 865760) to ensure climate resilience and improve safety.
The estimated construction cost is $1.5 million. This project is partially funded by City and federal funds.
Data collection activities including surveying, geotechnical analysis and waterway inspections were completed in October 2023. Design plans were presented to the community in April 2024 and updated plans are now 60% ready.
Construction is scheduled to begin in fall 2027 and is expected to be completed in late 2030. This schedule is subject to change based on inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

The City of Fort Lauderdale is working with Jacobs Engineering Group to prepare designs for the replacement of three existing bridges (Bridge No. 865773, 865774, 865771) along West Lake Drive in Harbor Beach to ensure climate resilience and improve safety.
The estimated construction cost is $13.8 million. This project is partially funded by City and federal funds.
Data collection activities including surveying, geotechnical analysis and waterway inspections were completed in October 2023. Design plans were presented to the community in April 2024 and updated plans are now 60% ready.

- Replacing the two-lane SE 7th Street Bridge (Bridge No. 865760) with a new bridge consisting of one travel lane and a 6-foot sidewalk in each direction
- Upgrading signage and pavement markings
- Reconstructing roadway approaches
- Milling and resurfacing

The City of Fort Lauderdale is working with Jacobs Engineering and Roadway Design Solutions to prepare designs for the replacement of three bridges along West Lake Drive in Harbor Beach and one bridge along SE 7 Street in Rio Vista:
- West Lake Drive at Estelle River Bridge (865771)
- West Lake Drive at Lucille River Bridge (865773)
- West Lake Drive at Mercedes River Bridge (865774)
- SE 7 Street at Rio Cordova Bridge (865760)
This project is partially funded by state & federal funds. Data collection activities including surveying, geotechnical analysis and waterway inspections will begin on Monday, July 31, 2023, and are expected to be completed in October 2023. Work will take place Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Upcoming Phases: Design (Oct. 2023-Oct. 2024) and Construction (Oct. 2024-Oct. 2025). This schedule is subject to change based on inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
Traffic Impacts
- One lane of West Lake Drive or SE 7 Street near each bridge may be closed during work hours.
- Traffic control personnel will direct traffic as needed.
- Access to driveways will be maintained.
- Please follow posted signs and drive with caution in the area.
