MILWAUKEE - Lynn Griffith, chief marketing and communication officer at Marquette University, has been named to the board of directors for Menomonee Valley Partners, Inc., a nonprofit that serves as the lead agency in the redevelopment of Milwaukee's Menomonee River Valley.
Since the establishment of Menomonee Valley Partners in 1999, Marquette has played a critical role in the area's redevelopment through Valley Fields - home of the university's soccer, lacrosse and track and field programs - and the 313 Building, which houses the university's Offices of Human Resources, Information Technology Services and Finance.
The MVP board of directors is made up of community and business leaders from around the city, as well as representatives of state, regional and local municipality resources. Griffith replaces Claudia Paetsch on the MVP board, who retired last month after six years of service as Marquette's vice president for human resources.
"I'm honored to serve on the board of an organization leading such vital efforts to reenergize and steward an essential part of our city," Griffith said. "Community partnerships are a cornerstone of Marquette's Catholic, Jesuit mission, and their importance is reinforced in the 'Care for the World' theme of our Marquette 2031 strategic plan. Marquette is proud to work together with Menomonee Valley Partners to strengthen our shared neighborhood."
As chief marketing and communications officer, Griffith leads Marquette's Office of Marketing and Communication, overseeing strategy and planning, media relations, internal communication, presidential communication, social media, issues and crisis management, advertising, digital, creative services, editorial and brand management.
Menomonee Valley Partners' mission is to revitalize and sustain the Menomonee River Valley as a thriving urban district that advances economic, ecological and social equity for the benefit of the greater Milwaukee community. The organization serves as a convener and coordinator by engaging stakeholders, articulating a vision, leveraging funding and aligning partners to accomplish shared goals.
