How did your AMETEK career begin?

I started at Precitech as a co-op during my senior year of high school and worked here part time throughout my time as an undergrad at Keene State College in Keene, NH. I began in the Raw Materials Handling department, then moved to Mechanical Inspection and later to Mechanical Assembly. After graduating with a B.S. in Sustainable Product Design and Innovation with a focus on Manufacturing Engineering, I started working full time at Precitech as a Manufacturing Engineering Technician.

What was your experience like in the optics program?

The program was a great experience, and I strongly recommend it to anyone who is interested in precision manufacturing and optics. The Keene State instructors are super supportive. They keep classes small so you can really get to know your fellow classmates and professors, who know you by name and are always there to help and keep you thinking.

Working at Precitech in high school and college made me really motivated to learn more about the optics industry. After taking the diamond turning class at Keene State, I was also very fascinated with the growing optics industry and the advanced systems to manufacture optics. We even used Precitech's Nanoform X diamond turning lathe in the class, which directly translated to my part-time work and the full-time position. I was able to take the skills I learned in Keene State's classes and apply them directly at Precitech right after finishing the class.

even if we don't always notice them."

What support have you received from your colleagues at Precitech?

My colleagues at Precitech have been incredibly supportive throughout my journey. From high school to college and now as a full-time employee, leadership has guided me every step of the way, helping me transition and explore different areas of the business. Each team I've worked with has been welcoming and eager to share their knowledge. My coworkers have always been happy to answer my questions and genuinely wanted to help me grow. Their support has been key to building my skills and deepening my passion for the optics industry.

What do you find most rewarding about your work?

Optics are a big part of everyday life, even if we don't always notice them. They help improve vision in so many ways, like fixing near-sightedness, far-sightedness, and even helping with age-related eye issues. It's really fascinating to work for a company that's driving this kind of technology and striving to achieve more in the future.

What's next in your AMETEK journey?

I'm always trying to stay on top of the latest optics industry trends and developments, and I would eventually like to pursue a master's degree in engineering or leadership. Right now, I'm engaged in my day-to-day work at Precitech and am excited to further my career at AMETEK.
