Census Bureau Releases Schedule for Income, Poverty and Health Insurance Statistics and Updates About the American Community Survey Estimates

AUGUST 4, 2026 - The U.S. Census Bureau has set the schedule for release of the 2025 Income, Poverty and Health Insurance statistics from the Current Population Survey (CPS) Annual Social and Economic Supplement (ASEC) and is planning for the release of the 2025 American Community Survey (ACS).

This release includes:

• National 2025 income statistics. Annual income, earnings and inequality estimates that can be used to evaluate national economic trends and their effect on the well-being of households, families and individuals.
• National 2025 poverty statistics. Annual official poverty and Supplemental Poverty Measure (SPM) estimates to help gauge the economic well-being of households, families and individuals based on official poverty measure and SPM rates.
• National 2025 health insurance coverage statistics. Annual national-level health insurance coverage estimates highlighting coverage trends and examining health insurance status by selected characteristics to better understand the well-being of individuals.
  

The release date for the 2025 ACS 1-year estimates is being determined. The Census Bureau is assessing the impact of the new departmental administrative order (DAO), Department of Commerce Disclosure Avoidance for Statistical Products, and seeking DAO-compliant solutions to allow the release of the ACS 1-year tables later this year.

The CPS serves as the nation's primary source of statistics on labor force characteristics. The ASEC provides the nation's official poverty levels as well as statistics on income, health insurance coverage, marital status, educational attainment, employee benefits, work experience, school enrollment, noncash benefits, and migration. The Census Bureau and the Bureau of Labor Statistics have conducted the CPS for more than 50 years. Policymakers use these indicators to assess households' well-being, track the economy, and evaluate government programs.

The ACS provides a wide range of important statistics about people and housing in every community across the nation that everyone from city planners to retailers and homebuilders use to make informed decisions. This survey is the only source of local estimates for most of the 40-plus topics it covers, including income, poverty, health insurance coverage, education, occupation, language spoken at home, and housing costs.
