Magaziner’s Statement on Mass Layoffs at Department of Education

WASHINGTON, DC - Today, U.S. Rep. Seth Magaziner (RI-02) released the following statement after the Department of Education announced plans to lay off thousands of employees, a step toward President Trump's broader effort to dismantle the agency:

"I am concerned that Donald Trump and Elon Musk's plan to gut the Department of Education will negatively impact Rhode Island children and imperil funding for local school districts.

The Trump administration's quest to find money to pay for tax cuts for billionaires should not include cuts to education."
