Key Takeaways
Yahoo is introducing MyScout, a new personalized homepage within Yahoo Scout, the company's new AI answer engine currently in beta. Yahoo Scout is the first AI answer engine to offer this kind of dynamic, user-driven personalization.
Beginning today, when users log in to Yahoo Scout, they'll find a new homepage that can be tailored to them. MyScout pulls in content from across the Yahoo ecosystem, including Yahoo Mail, Finance, News, Sports, and Games. It surfaces things like the latest emails from their inbox, stocks they follow, trending news, live scores and schedules for their favorite teams, and games like Trivia IQ. And that's just the starting point: users can add a tile for nearly any topic they want to follow.
Users have full control over both what's displayed and how it's laid out, making it easy to tailor the Yahoo Scout experience to their preferences. The result is a single, at-a-glance snapshot of the day's most important information, no toggling required. MyScout shows you what you care about, pulled together in one place, exactly the way you want it.
MyScout is fully customizable and will become more agentic and personalized over time. Today, users can add, reorder, and even add new tiles based on nearly any query. Select tiles will automatically update in real time, such as stock prices from a Yahoo Finance watch list, while others will update throughout the day, including emails, weather, sports scores, and trending news. Other tiles like top product recommendations, horoscopes, and games will refresh regularly.
"Staying on top of your world shouldn't require a constant cycle of toggling between tabs and apps. Yet that's exactly what most people do - checking a stock price here, a sports score there, and an urgent update buried in a crowded inbox," said Eric Feng, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Yahoo Research Group. "We've introduced MyScout to bring all the information you need to know - and answers to topics you're searching for - in your daily life together in one place, creating a dynamic experience to help you get things done faster and better than ever."
Yahoo News Introduces New Feature to Support Publishers
According to a recent survey, over 75% of Americans think it is important for AI search tools to show original sources of information, and a majority say a tool that makes it easier to click through to original sources would make them more likely to use it.1
Yahoo Scout is designed to help people easily discover the information they're looking for while supporting the open web by connecting them directly to the publishers that inform its answers, including the hundreds who partner with Yahoo to syndicate content on Yahoo News. To further help those publishers grow their audience, Yahoo News is also introducing publisher brand pages and a follow feature.
As with similar features recently introduced for Yahoo Creators, these experiences make it easier for users to stay connected to the publishers they love. Brand pages give publishers a centralized hub on Yahoo, bringing together their articles, video, and social feeds, while the follow feature enables users to receive curated newsletters of followed content directly in their inbox. Together, these features can help increase reader engagement and grow recurring audiences on Yahoo.
"Publishers are fundamental to the open web, and its future depends on a healthy, thriving ecosystem," said Kat Downs Mulder, General Manager of Yahoo News. "We're focused on making Yahoo a place where great content is discovered and valued, and where publishers can build real, sustained connections with their audience while growing their businesses."
Yahoo Scout Is Shaped by Three Decades of User Insights
Yahoo Scout is uniquely shaped by Yahoo's three decades of user insights and deep understanding of how people search, discover, make decisions and accomplish goals online. It brings together the best of traditional web search and generative AI answers to deliver the right information and assistance at the right time for Yahoo's vast user base, which reaches 90 percent of U.S. internet users each month.2 It's informed by 500 million user profiles, a knowledge graph spanning more than 1 billion entities, and 18 trillion consumer events that occur annually across Yahoo3, which allow Yahoo Scout to provide effective and personalized answers and suggested actions. The Yahoo Scout Intelligence Platform combines advanced AI capabilities with all of Yahoo's leading vertical experiences - including Mail, News, Finance, Sports and more - powering smart features that provide clarity and context.
Yahoo Scout, now including MyScout, is available in beta for U.S. users at Scout.com and in the Yahoo Search app on iOS and Android.
