Towns of Southampton, Riverhead, and Southold - SCWA North Fork Water Main Extensions: Riverside/Flanders to Jamesport/Laurel and East Marion to Orient

Positive Declaration, Availability of Draft Scope and Public Scoping Session

Suffolk County - The Suffolk County Water Authority, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Suffolk County Water Authority (SCWA) North Fork Water Main Extensions: Riverside/Flanders to Jamesport/Laurel and East Marion to Orient may have a significant adverse impact on the environment and a Draft Environmental Impact Statement must be prepared. The Draft Scope is available from the Suffolk County Water Authority Westhampton Building, 624 Old Riverhead Road, Westhampton Beach, NY 11978; the Riverhead Public Library, 330 Court Street, Riverhead, NY 11901; the Floyd Memorial Public Library, 539 First Street. Greenport, NY 11944 and on line at: www.scwa.com/nfp. Three public scoping session on the Draft Scope will be held as follows:

The action involves the installation of a public drinking water main from the intersection of Flanders Road (NYS Route 24) and Cross River Drive (Riverside/Flanders in Southampton), north to Northville Turnpike and east along Sound Avenue to the Riverhead/Southold town line (Riverside/Flanders to Jamesport/ Laurel extension). A booster station (pump facility) is also proposed on the west side of Pier Avenue just north of the Pier Avenue/Sound Avenue intersection.

The second water main extension begins on the west side of the Dam Pond Bridge in East Marion, then east along Main Road (NYS Route 25) to Orient, and south along Tabor Road and along parts of Orchard Street, Navy Street, King Street, Vincent Street, Willow Street, Fletcher Street, Skippers Lane, Harbor River Road, and Oyster Ponds Lane. The project is located in the Towns of Southampton, Riverhead, and Southold, New York.
