Daytime construction begins in early August.
The Via Lucero Wastewater Force Main Replacement Project on the 100 block of North Hope Avenue will transition from nighttime to daytime work hours (7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) starting in early August. The critical infrastructure improvement project is designed to ensure continued reliable wastewater service for the community. Expect intermittent traffic impacts along Via Lucero, North Hope Avenue, and State Street within the vicinity of the project. Construction is anticipated to be completed by December 2026.
Project benefits include:
The existing 1950s-era pressurized force main on Via Lucero, between Bodega Lane and North Hope Avenue, has reached the end of its useful life and is being replaced to reduce the risk of sewer spills and lower maintenance costs. Adjacent gravity sewer mains and manholes of similar age and condition will also be replaced along portions of North Hope Avenue and State Street. This $4.8 million project is funded by monthly sewer service fees paid by City wastewater customers.
The schedule may change as construction progresses. The City appreciates the community's patience and cooperation as we work to enhance our essential wastewater infrastructure.
