San Rafael Plants Trees in Honor of Arbor Day

On Tuesday December 2nd, San Rafael celebrated its 43rd consecutive year as a Tree City USA in Peacock Gap Park. The Public Works Department gathered with a few guests from the community, including Mayor Kate, to plant a few new trees in this beautiful park. Operations Superintendent Aaron Tubbs, who is also an arborist, spoke about the program and the importance of trees.

The Tree City USA program is sponsored by the National Arbor Day Foundation, which is the oldest and largest tree-planting organization in the world. There are 164 Tree City USA designated cities in CA, with only 19 having a longer tenure than San Rafael. The City remains committed to fulling Tree City USA standards and is proud of its tree friendly heritage!
