Tarleton State Baseball's Morrison, Panneton earn WAC weekly honors

STEPHENVILLE, Texas - Tarleton State Baseball swept the conference weekly awards this week. was honored as the WAC Baseball Player of the Week while was recognized as the WAC Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced on Monday afternoon.

The two upperclassmen propelled the Purple and White to their first conference series sweep of the season against Utah Tech, highlighted by a 14-4 run-rule victory to close out the series on Sunday afternoon.

Through four games this week, Morrison accumulated eight hits, eight runs and seven RBIs. The Stephenville, Texas, native also had four extra-base hits in two games, including a monster performance on Sunday with two home runs and a triple during his first three at bats.

The hometown kid notched multiple hits in all three games against the Trailblazers and posted back-to-back three-run games on Saturday and Sunday. He also led the team with five RBIs on Sunday afternoon.

Morrison achieved his 50th hit of his senior campaign this weekend, becoming the fourth Texan to reach that mark in 2025. Additionally, he ranks second among the squad with 38 RBIs.

Panneton led the Texans to victory during their season opener against Utah Tech. The Tomball, Texas, native pitched eight scoreless innings of work, allowing three hits, no walks and no runs. His eight shutout innings propelled the Purple and White to a 3-2 win, marking their third consecutive victory in conference play.

All six of Panneton's strikeouts were looking. He tallied all six of them through four innings, including two strikeouts in the second and two in the fourth. The junior did not allow a single baserunner for 19 straight outs, displaying absolutely stellar control on the mound.

Following this week's series, Panneton has the most wins among all Tarleton State pitchers, posting a 5-2 overall record. He also leads the squad in innings pitched (58.2) and strikeouts (53).

The two Texan standouts will look to continue their dominant play when Tarleton State takes on Houston Christian on Wednesday, followed by a three-game series against WAC foe California Baptist this weekend.
