Secretary De la Fuente to Participate in the IV Ministerial Meeting of the China-CELAC Forum in Beijing
  • Foreign Secretary Juan Ramón de la Fuente will participate in the meeting to be held on Tuesday, May 13 in Beijing
  • The ministerial meeting marks the 10th anniversary of the bi-regional cooperation forum

Foreign Secretary Juan Ramón de la Fuente will participate in the IV Ministerial Meeting of the China-Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) Forum, to be held on May 13 in Beijing. This meeting marks the 10th anniversary of the forum's creation.

Presidents Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva of Brazil, Gustavo Petro of Colombia, and Gabriel Boric of Chile are expected to attend, along with approximately 20 foreign ministers from the region.

Over the forum's ten-year existence, joint action plans have included cooperation initiatives in infrastructure and transportation, agriculture, industry, science and technology, health, disaster risk reduction, and poverty eradication. At this meeting, the Action Plan for the 2025-2027 biennium will be renewed.

The China-CELAC Forum was established to strengthen political dialogue and enhance biregional cooperation.

As part of the biregional meeting, Secretary de la Fuente will hold bilateral talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
