HARRISBURG - Rep. Bryan Cutler (R-Peach Bottom) today announced that PENNVEST has awarded funding to the Chester Water Authority (CWA) for major improvements to their Susquehanna booster station through a $19.2 million loan.
This project will replace the existing three constant feed pumps with 1,500-horsepower vertical turbine pumps with new variable frequency drives, remove an existing variable speed pump; install a backup generator capable of running two of the pumps, replace the existing switchgear equipment and transformer, and replace the existing generator.
"This funding will help CWA finish this critical project," said Cutler. "This ensures our neighbors will continue to have access to safe drinking water thanks to the incredible workers from the 100th District. I also want to thank Sen. Scott Martin for his partnership in working to secure this funding."
PENNVEST funding specifically serves projects in Pennsylvania that focus on sewer, storm water and drinking water projects.
