Alza Council hosts Celebration of Inclusive Excellence

The University of New Mexico's Alza Council, part of the Division for Change and Empowerment (DiCE), hosts its annual Celebration of Inclusive Excellence from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, at the Anderson School of Management's Jackson Center, located at 1920 Las Lomas Blvd. NE.

The celebration honors members of the UNM community who foster connection, compassion, and empowerment across campus. During the event, the council will present the Luminaria Awards, recognizing students, faculty, and staff who exemplify empowerment, transformation, heart, and lasting impact.

Award categories include:

  • Empowerment in Action Award - For those who remove barriers and empower others to succeed.
  • Change-Maker Award - For those who lead initiatives that transform the campus climate.
  • DiCE Legacy Award - For those whose sustained contributions to inclusive excellence have left a lasting impact.
  • El Corazón Award - For those who lead with heart and hope through difficult circumstances.

Nominations for the Luminaria Awards are open through Nov. 24. The event is free, and attendees are asked to RSVP by Nov. 19 at goto.unm.edu/alzadec.
