As part of its efforts to enhance international partnerships and introduce modern technologies to the Arab agricultural sector, Dr. Abdelilah Belatik, Counsellor / Chief of Strategic Transformation and Investment at the Arab Authority for Agricultural Investment and Development (AAAID), received a delegation from the Fraunhofer Institute for Computer Graphics Research (Fraunhofer IGD), headed by Dr. Philipp Wree, Head of Bioeconomy and Smart Farming, and accompanied by Dr. Ali Al Masri, Project Manager, Bioeconomy and Smart Farming, at AAAID's headoffice in Dubai.
During the meeting, both sides discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in the fields of smart agriculture, artificial intelligence applications in crop production, and the use of advanced digital technologies for imaging, analysis, and agricultural data processing. The discussions also addressed the use of drones and satellite systems to monitor and optimize farming operations. These initiatives reflect AAAID's commitment to supporting agricultural innovation and enhancing the efficient use of natural resources, thereby increasing productivity and contributing to sustainable Arab food security.
The Fraunhofer IGD delegation delivered a detailed presentation on the latest digital intelligence solutions for crop and livestock management, showcasing how these technologies can improve operational efficiency and enhance product quality through visual computing and intelligent image and data analysis.
Dr. Belatik underscored AAAID's strong focus on adopting modern technologies in its agricultural and investment projects, aimed at developing innovative and sustainable solutions to meet the growing food security needs of Arab countries. He also commended Fraunhofer IGD's pioneering role in applied research and technological transformation in the agricultural sector.
The meeting concluded with both parties reaffirming their commitment to continued technical coordination to define future cooperation pathways in applied agricultural research and sustainable smart farming, supporting AAAID's vision for sustainable agricultural development and its contribution to strengthening Arab food security.
