Premier Calls on Congress to Renew Advanced Alternative Payment Model Incentives

Premier joined 23 other national organizations and hundreds of accountable care organizations (ACOs), hospitals, health systems, medical practices and health clinics in sending a letter to House and Senate leaders urging them to extend Medicare's Advanced Alternative Payment Model (APM) incentive payments, as called for in the bipartisan bicameral Preserving Patient Access to Accountable Care Act (H.R. 786 /S. 1460). The legislation that Premier is championing would extend incentive payments for qualifying participants (QPs) in Advanced APMs through payment year 2027 based on performance year 2025, at an adjusted amount of 3.53 percent. The bill would also extend QP eligibility thresholds in effect for performance year 2023 through payment year 2027.

Eligibility for the Advanced APM incentive payments expired on Dec. 31, 2024. Preserving incentives to support the movement to value-based care is one of Premier's advocacy priorities.
