Robenson Duvelsaint of the Palm Beach Community Services Department's Community Action Program joined residents, community partners, and emergency preparedness professionals at a hurricane preparedness event hosted by the Palm Beach County Office of Emergency Management at Royal Palm Beach Community High School on September 12, 2026.
Focused on hurricane readiness, the event encouraged residents to take proactive steps to protect themselves, their families, and their homes before severe weather strikes. From early morning setup to meaningful conversations throughout the day, participating organizations demonstrated a shared commitment to building a safer, stronger, and more prepared Palm Beach County.
The event brought together an impressive network of agencies and community partners, including NOAA, Generator Supercenter, the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, Legal Aid Society, the Palm Beach County Public Safety Department, Palm Beach County Fire Department, Palm Beach Community Services and Team Rubicon Disaster Response, among others.
While attendance was modest, the residents who participated were engaged, informed, and eager to learn. Community members asked important questions, connected with local resources, and gained practical information to help them prepare for hurricane season.
The Community Action Program also had the opportunity to connect residents with programs and services offered by Palm Beach County Community Services. Several attendees expressed interest in learning more about available resources and even volunteering with the department, an encouraging sign of growing community involvement.
Events like this demonstrate the power of collaboration. By bringing residents together with trusted agencies, service providers, and emergency preparedness partners, Palm Beach County continues to strengthen its network of support and ensure that residents have access to the information and resources they need when it matters most.
Preparedness starts before the storm. Community connection makes us stronger.
