Pietro Contegno, Chief Information and Digital Transformation Officer at ASTM, presented the Group's vision on the highly topical subject of artificial intelligence in the business world at the Executive Master's in Artificial Intelligence for Business at Bologna Business School. BBS, an international business school founded by the University of Bologna - the oldest university not only in Italy but in the world - is aimed at a new generation of managers, combining advanced skills with a practical approach.
By highlighting some of ASTM's success cases in the motorway infrastructure sector, Pietro demonstrated how AI is already having a positive impact on mobility.
The main areas of application for recently introduced solutions based on generative artificial intelligence were reviewed, particularly for the optimisation and efficient management of business processes, followed by an in-depth look at other more complex technologies based on machine learning and advanced modelling. Within ASTM, these technologies have been used to develop application platforms for both toll collection and ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems) solutions, combining 'traditional' artificial intelligence with the latest market requirements.
