NORAD INTERCEPTS AIRCRAFT VIOLATING TEMPORARY FLIGHT RESTRICTION OVER PALM BEACH, FLORIDA

TYNDALL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. - A NORAD F-16 fighter aircraft intercepted a general aviation aircraft over Palm Beach, Florida, at approximately 12:20 p.m. EST today after the aircraft entered a NORAD-enforced FAA Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) area over Mar-a-Lago.

After the fighter jet executed a standard headbutt maneuver to gain the pilot's attention, the civilian aircraft established communication and safely exited the restricted airspace in full compliance with flight instructions.

Should NORAD aircraft intercept a general aviation aircraft, the pilot should immediately come up on frequency 121.5 or 243.0 and turn around to reverse course until receiving additional instructions on one of those frequencies.

Pilots who violate TFR airspace may also be met by federal authorities upon landing and subject to enforcement action.

The Continental U.S. NORAD Region, at Tyndall AFB, is the operational lead for this NORAD mission.
