Statement from Representative John W. Mannion on the State of the Union Address
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Representative John W. Mannion (NY-22) today released the following statement on the State of the Union address:
"President Trump's speech was packed with rhetoric and lies that don't reflect the reality of most Americans. The truth is the people of Central New York and the Mohawk Valley are being squeezed by an affordability crisis that's fueled in large part by the president's policies, including his illegal and haphazard tariffs.
I will always look for areas where we can work together to improve lives and drive down costs - from lowering prescription drug prices to keeping the dream of homeownership within reach for the next generation.
But we also have a responsibility to be honest about the facts. The president's repeated claims that our elections are unsafe or fraudulent are demonstrably false and undermine confidence in a system that is bipartisan and professionally run. We can disagree on policy without eroding trust in our democracy.
My focus remains on delivering results, protecting democratic institutions, and fighting every day for the families and businesses of NY-22."
