City of Reno Offering Discounted Trees to Residents in Partnership with Arbor Day Foundation

The City of Reno is providing a discounted tree sale once again to Reno residents through ReLEAF Reno, in collaboration with the Arbor Day Foundation's energy saving trees program that helps conserve energy and reduce energy bills through strategic tree planting.

Thanks to generous donations to ReLEAF Reno, residents can reserve up to two trees for the subsidized cost of $35 per tree at ArborDay.org/Reno. The trees will be available for pick-up at the City's Idlewild Park Maintenance yard on Saturday, October 25, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. to noon.

"We are so proud to continue to offer this program to our residents and play a part in our commitment to a greener, healthier world," said Reno City Councilmember Naomi Duerr, who launched the ReLeaf Reno program in 2016. "These trees help reduce our carbon footprint, keep us cool, and filter pollution in our community."

In the signup process, residents agree to properly maintain the tree, which includes the requirement to have an automatic watering system in place. The online tool helps customers estimate the annual energy savings that will result from planting trees in the most strategic location near their homes or businesses.

Residents can select from a variety of trees selected for their hardiness to Reno's climate and soils, including a Burgundy Sweetgum with amazing fall color, a large shade producing Valley Oak, smaller growing flowering Mimosa tree, an evergreen Deodar Cedar, or a delicious fruit producing Red Sensation Pear.
