MBA Applauds Crucial Senate Passage of VA Partial Claims Bill

WASHINGTON, D.C. (July 15, 2025) - MBA's President and CEO Bob Broeksmit, CMB, released the following statement on the Senate's passage of the VA Home Loan Program Reform Act (H.R. 1815) by unanimous consent:

"MBA applauds the Senate for taking swift bipartisan action to support veterans at risk of foreclosure by passing the VA Home Loan Program Reform Act. This important legislation, which passed the House in May, is a critical step forward in ensuring that distressed veteran homeowners have access to a proven and sustainable loss mitigation solution.

"We thank Senate Veterans' Affairs Committee Chairman Jerry Moran (R-KS) and Ranking Member Dick Blumenthal (D-CT) for their leadership during this process, including their willingness to work with the Trump administration, their colleagues, and key stakeholders to pass this loss mitigation authority for the VA so expeditiously.

"Since the VA's previous partial claim authority was sunset without a replacement nearly two years ago, MBA has worked closely with the VA, lawmakers, and our members to advocate for a permanent partial claim option that mirrors the successful programs offered by other federal housing agencies.

"We look forward to President Trump signing this legislation into law and stand ready to work with the VA on a swift and seamless implementation."
