On Tuesday, Jan. 27, Marquette will host National Marrow Donor Program Registry Drive from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Alumni Memorial Union. The drive aims to register potential donors for blood stem cells, which are often used in cures for blood disorders such as leukemia, lymphoma and sickle cell. A group of students is hosting the event along with NMDP as part of its Cure Cancer the Marquette Way initiative.

Event organizers aim to register at least 50 new donors. Those who cannot attend can still register to be part of the registry on NMDP's website. Registry members are expected to keep their contact information up to date, respond quickly if they are called as a potential match and be willing to donate to any patient.
