Carrie Manning Selected for Association of International Education Administrators Presidential Fellows Program

ATLANTA - Georgia State Associate Provost for International Initiatives Carrie Manning, a professor of political science, has been selected for the 2026-27 Association of International Education Administrators (AIEA) Presidential Fellows Program, a prestigious national leadership initiative that supports emerging senior international officers in higher education.

Manning was chosen as one of four fellows nationwide for the highly selective program, which pairs newer senior international leaders with accomplished international education leaders for a year-long mentorship that focuses on institutional strategy, leadership development and advancing global engagement. She will work with Hilary E. Kahn, associate vice chancellor for international affairs at Indiana University Indianapolis and Indiana University's associate vice president for international affairs.

The fellowship aligns closely with the Office of International Initiatives' 2024-29 Strategic Plan, which calls for increasing access to high-impact global experiences for students, supporting faculty engagement in international teaching and research, and positioning Georgia State as a hub for global engagement and intercultural education. Under Manning's leadership, the university has continued to strengthen its commitment to preparing students to succeed in an increasingly interconnected global environment.

"Carrie's leadership has expanded the ways Georgia State students, faculty and partners connect with the world," said Georgia State Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs Nicolle Parsons-Pollard. "This fellowship is an opportunity for her to bring that experience into conversation with other leaders in international education while gaining new perspectives that can further strengthen our work. I am delighted to see her leadership recognized through this national fellowship and look forward to how she will use this experience to deepen global engagement and create new opportunities for our students and faculty."

The fellowship provides participants with individualized mentorship from experienced senior international officers, opportunities to observe leadership practices at peer institutions and access to a national network of international education leaders. Fellows also participate in structured campus visits and professional development activities designed to strengthen their effectiveness as institutional leaders.

A Fulbright alumna, Manning is a scholar of comparative politics, civil war and peacebuilding, and the author of five books and numerous scholarly publications. AIEA identified her leadership of Georgia State's internationally recognized programs and initiatives as part of its announcement of the 2026-27 fellowship cohort.
