Brief for SME’s

BRAID (Bridging Responsible AI Divides) is a UK-wide project dedicated to integrating Arts and Humanities research more fully into the Responsible AI ecosystem, as well as bridging the divides between academic, industry, policy, and regulatory work on responsible AI. Led from the University of Edinburgh, partners include the BBC and the Ada Lovelace Institute. It is funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council.

Empowering SMEs to innovate using AI responsibly

As part of the BRAID programme, we are creating new learning materials to support Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) to drive responsible innovation using AI. Our free Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) will equip SMEs and micros with a foundational understanding of responsible AI innovation, and allow them to move from principles to practice.

How you can help

We are keen to showcase SMEs that are experienced in driving innovation responsibly using AI, so that we can offer a tangible, relatable perspective to those taking the course. This showcasing will involve being recorded speaking about your experience, with a focus on (1) the risks and benefits of AI and (2) initial steps that SMEs can take to adopt a responsible AI approach as a driver of innovation.

Participation is expected to require approximately an hour of recording time, with the videos being recorded in the next few months. For both videos, contributors will be provided with a set of questions to consider in advance of the recording. If desired, it may be feasible to record in the studio at the University of Edinburgh.

This opportunity will appeal to SMEs that have successfully used or experimented with a responsible AI approach, and we would like to showcase your organisation and what you're doing. You and your organisation will be acknowledged within the MOOC itself and at the launch events, positioning you as a leader in this space. Involvement will demonstrate association with a number of other well-recognised and respected organisations including the BBC, the Ada Lovelace Institute, the Alan Turing Institute, and Accenture. In addition, it will boost your corporate social responsibility profile by demonstrating a commitment to education and knowledge growth. There will also be a small honorarium offered to recognise the dedication of time and effort.
