Updated Water Service Line Inventory

In response to growing national awareness about the risks of lead in drinking water as well as changes to Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations, the City of Fort Lauderdale is conducting an updated inventory of all service lines in our community.

Water service lines connect your building to the City's water distribution system. They are typically buried in the front yard and run from your building to the water main in the street. Since early 2024, the City has been reviewing infrastructure records, examining local codes, and conducting extensive field inspections at properties across our service area.

To date, the vast majority of service lines have been confirmed to be made of non-lead materials such as PVC or copper, and there are currently no known lead service lines in the system. The City will continue to evaluate every service line in our community and perform additional inspections as needed over the coming years to ensure public safety.
