$3K Grant from FHLB Dallas and Southern Bancorp Supports Nonprofit Guiding Arkansas Youth to College

LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS, August 26, 2026-The Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas (FHLB Dallas) and its member Southern Bancorp provided a $3,000 Partnership Grant Program (PGP) award that will help Mamás Unidas LR expand its work helping Arkansas youth pursue education after high school. The funds are part of $1.8 million in PGP funds awarded in 2026 by FHLB Dallas and members in its five-state District of Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico and Texas, and will enable Mamás Unidas LR to hire a program coordinator to conduct a series of workshops on college and career readiness, with a special focus on financial literacy for students and their parents.

FHLB Dallas made the announcement during a celebratory event yesterday in Little Rock, Arkansas, commemorating the 30th anniversary of the PGP.

"This grant directly enhances our ability to serve families who are navigating the path toward higher education and economic stability," said Sandra Carmona Jobe, development director, at Mamás Unidas LR. "Thanks to the grant, we can now reach more students and deliver more workshops that equip families with the tools they need to thrive."

The PGP provides up to a 5:1 match of member contributions-up to $25,000 per member-to strengthen community-based organizations engaged in affordable housing and economic development. Funds are distributed annually through participating FHLB Dallas members like Southern Bancorp.

"This grant is an important investment in Mamás Unidas' operational strength and long-term impact," said Southern Bancorp CRA Officer Conner Wood. "By putting our mission and resources to work in support of theirs, we can help more Arkansans pursue postsecondary education, achieve their goals and build brighter financial futures."

The PGP has been a critical funding source for small nonprofits, said Greg Hettrick, senior vice president and director of Community Investment at FHLB Dallas.

"The PGP helps our members expand their support of community-based organizations," said Mr. Hettrick. "Partnering with Southern Bancorp to support Mamás Unidas LR enhances the organization's capacity to reach Arkansas youth early, when decisions about higher education can shape not only their personal futures but the strength and prosperity of the community."
