Stockton, CA - Assemblymember Rhodesia Ransom (D-Tracy) joined the City of Stockton today to break ground on a new water storage project that will capture and store water underground so it's available when the community needs it most.

"This water project is similar to depositing into your savings account," said Assemblymember Ransom. "When a future drought hits, Stockton will have clean drinking water stored underground and crops will stay irrigated. This is exactly the kind of smart, sustainable investment California needs."

The $17 million project ($2.3 million in state funding) will capture and store water during wet years, making it available when dry years return. By directly replenishing the groundwater basin, Stockton is building long-term drought resilience and setting an example for other cities across the state.

State Representative Rhodesia Ransom, who represents Stockton, Tracy, Mountain House and French Camp pledged to continue fighting for state investments that bring real solutions home to San Joaquin County.
