Mount Maunganui tragedy

All of us at Port of Tauranga are still reeling from the horrific events in Welcome Bay and Mount Maunganui one week ago. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the victims' families, and our deep respect for the emergency services and recovery teams involved in the ongoing response. We are grateful to the leaders of Tauranga Moana iwi for their support of the grieving and the rescuers. Our appreciation also goes to our friends at the Mount Maunganui Lifeguard Service, who have helped in so many practical ways.

We have made a donation on behalf of the company to the Western Bay Emergency Response Fund as a small gesture of our sympathies to those impacted.
