Chairman Arrington on March Jobs Report: "178,000 Jobs Created-Triple Expectations"

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, the Bureau of Labor Statistics published its March 2026 jobs report. House Budget Chairman Jodey Arrington (R-Texas) released the following statement:

"Today's jobs report is another strong signal that the American economy is gaining momentum. With 178,000 jobs created in March-triple expectations-we're seeing the kind of gains that comes from pro-growth policies.

"Wages are rising, inflation is stabilizing, and American workers are finally seeing their purchasing power improve. Combined with larger tax refunds driven by the One Big Beautiful Bill-up $350 from last year-families are getting real relief and greater affordability.

"This is what happens when you prioritize economic growth, reward work, and put the American people first."

BACKGROUND

Employers added 178,000 jobs in March, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Forecasters expected a 59,000 gain. Job creation in March was the highest since December 2024.
