SCO Secretary-General Takes Part in Farewell Ceremony for Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran
On July 3, 2026, in Tehran, Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Nurlan Yermekbayev took part in the farewell ceremony for the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
The SCO Secretary-General expressed condolences, joining the mourning events held at the Imam Khomeini Mosalla religious and public complex.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of the leadership of the Islamic Republic of Iran, heads and high-ranking officials of a number of foreign states, heads of international organizations, as well as other distinguished guests.
On March 2, 2026, the SCO member states adopted a Statement on behalf of the Organisation regarding the situation surrounding the Islamic Republic of Iran.
