BURLINGAME, CALIFORNIA - Following Governor Newsom's signing of AB 2595, Assemblymember Papan joined local elected officials and community advocates today to promote the adoption of a model ordinance for youth e-bike safety across San Mateo County.

"AB 2595 was just the start. Now it's time for our cities to act. This model ordinance gives cities in San Mateo County a clear path forward to a safer e-bike journey for our kids," said Assemblymember Papan.

Beginning January 1, 2027, AB 2595 authorizes cities throughout San Mateo County to prohibit children under 12 from operating Class 1 and Class 2 e-bikes. The model ordinance provides a uniform framework for local implementation.
