Dentons 2025 Internship Programme Empowers Five Future Attorneys

September 1, 2025

Dentons has successfully concluded its 2025 Legal Internship Programme, which spanned from June 16 to August 8 and engaged five dynamic legal interns across its Barbados and Guyana offices.

The programme is designed to provide practical training in a high-calibre legal setting - and this year's cohort brought intellectual strength, discipline and a deep desire to learn. Each intern gained exposure to litigation, property law, corporate law, and client advocacy - building skills that will serve them well as they advance toward qualification.

Michael Koeiman, Dentons Delany Co-Head of Litigation and Dispute Resolution, Head of Employment and Labor, described the internship experience as "…an extremely rewarding experience for our Firm. Our interns have demonstrated legal knowledge and commercial instincts that would do credit to experienced counsel. We wish them well as they complete their studies and look forward to welcoming them to the Bar, next year."

Nicole Parris, currently pursuing her Legal Education Certificate at Hugh Wooding Law School after graduating with First Class Honours from UWI Cave Hill, captured her experience with the phrase Practice Makes Perfect. "Jumping from a year of theory into practice was humbling and eye-opening. I've come to see that even interns can bring value to legal work," she said.

Tyreed Greenidge, also at Hugh Wooding, reflected on the transition from classroom to courtroom in The Awakening. "This internship gave me my first real look at how structured and formal the legal process is-especially in court," he shared.

In Guyana, Amrita Persaud brought a unique perspective, having previously worked as a legal assistant before entering Eugene Dupuch Law School. Her internship, titled Beyond the Bar, expanded her practical skills and sharpened her understanding of both litigation and corporate legal work. "Helping a corporation become established in Guyana made me feel part of something lasting," she noted.

Kayla Crawley, preparing to sit the Canadian bar exams, gave her experience the name Associate Adjacent. "I wasn't just observing - I was contributing. Whether drafting memos or preparing court notes, I was trusted, included and challenged," she stated.

Renaldo Blackman, a second-year Hugh Wooding Law School student, called his time with the firm Get Smart. Blackman said that "…you come in thinking you understand law - but seeing how things actually move inside a firm, especially in litigation, changes everything. There's always more going on behind the scenes.

As the interns return to their studies and pursue qualification in their respective jurisdictions, Dentons Delany celebrates their growth and contributions. Through mentorship, meaningful work, and exposure to real client matters, the internship offers a unique opportunity to shape the next generation of Caribbean legal talent.
